Strange... The only problem I have (and have ever had) was not being able
to play .midi files. Other that than, all versions of the ALSA drivers
from 5.9b to 5.10 have worked fine with the kernel of the day [I installed
2.4.0-test12pre7 and version 5.10 of the drivers two days ago without any
problems].
Did you forget to disable PNP stuff in the BIOS setup?
