Hello everybody,
I'm hoping that someone has experience setting up an external pcmcia
hard drive to mount automatically.
I've looked at the PCMCIA how-to, and have followed the instructions
there. The how-to suggests that you edit /etc/pcmcia/ide.opts to
recognize one's external drive. Apparently, one needs to know the
scheme, the pcmcia slot number and the drive's serial number. I have
edited this file with the latter two bits of information, but I have no
idea how to find information about the scheme. Help! What is a scheme,
and where do I find out about which ones I may or may not have?
Also, I run a dual-boot system (Win 98 and redhat 7.0). I would like to
change my master boot record to boot linux from the external drive and
leave Win98 on my internal hard drive. Apparently, I have to pass some
pcmcia parameters to the kernal from the master boot record (so that
the kernel recognizes the external hard drive through the pcmcia slot).
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,
Chad David Cover
