I didn't have any luck with Xfree 3.x under debian but got it working under
OpenBSD 2.8 without any problems, probably either user error on my part, or
a newer rev of Xfree ships with OpenBSD 2.8. The onboard ethernet still
uses the eepro100 driver and works fine with linux, as does most everything
else I tried except for the modem. The modem is still a softmodem.
