I have the Z600 (NeoMagic graphics) which I think has the same sound card.
I installed Mandrake 7.2 and KDE 2.01 and it works. I had to change my
/etc/modules.conf file so that the sound module loaded properly at boot and
in kde 2.01 I had to set the sample rate for the aRts sound server to be
48000Hz (as recommended).
modules.conf
===========
alias net-pf-4 ipx
pre-install pcmcia_core /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
alias usb-interface usb-uhci
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
post-install snd-card-ymfpci modprobe snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-ymfpci
alias block-major-11 scsi_hostadapter
pre-install plip modprobe parport_pc ; echo 7 > /proc/parport/0/irq
#post-install snd-card-ymfpci modprobe snd-pcm-oss THIS LINE MOVED UP 3
PLACES
alias scsi_hostadapter usb-storage
alias eth0 eepro100
